EAU CLAIRE—The University of
Wisconsin-Eau Claire student chapter of American College of Health Care
Administrators is sponsoring “A Day in the Park.” The event will take place
from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at Owen Park, and will provide fun and
entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.
“A Day in the Park” celebrates the special
relationship that local nursing home and rehabilitation residents have with
family members and friends. Student volunteers will coordinate games and
activities, and Kerm’s on Water Street, Eau Claire, will provide refreshments
and snacks.
This is the first time the event has taken place, and the
sponsors hope it will become an annual tradition.
“The main purpose of an event like this is to provide
an opportunity for family members and friends to spend a day at the park with
their elderly parents, grandparents or special friends,” said Dr. Doug Olson,
assistant professor of health care administration in allied health professions
at UW-Eau Claire. “It also presents the chance to recognize the contributions
of local long-term care facilities and offers students the chance for meaningful
volunteer work.”
The event also is sponsored by the following local
long-term care facilities: Oakwood Villa, Dove Health Care Nursing and
Rehabilitation, The Clairemont, Syverson Lutheran Home, Chippewa Manor
Retirement Community, and Lakeside Nursing and Rehabilitation.
