EAU CLAIRE—The University of
Wisconsin-Eau Claire Alumni Association will honor outstanding students and
scholarship recipients at a special award luncheon Wednesday, May 9. The
luncheon is open to everyone and will begin at noon in the Tamarack Room, Davies
Center.
Steven W. Steinmetz, a senior biochemistry/molecular
biology major from Chippewa Falls will receive the Adult Opportunities
Outstanding Student Award.
The American Ethnic Coordinating Office Outstanding
Student Award will be awarded to Jamie Contreras, a senior communication major
from Milwaukee.
Jacob Gapko, a senior physics major from Eau Claire
will receive the College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Student Award.
Christopher J. Peterson, a senior economics/business and
accounting major from New Richmond will receive the College of Business
Outstanding Student Award.
The International Education Outstanding Student Award
will go to Ai Matsutaka, a senior marketing major from Kagawa, Japan.
The Professional Studies Outstanding Student Award for
Education will be awarded to Tracey Busch, a senior special education major from
Algoma.
Karin Frederick, a senior social work major from Kenosha,
will receive the Professional Studies Outstanding Student Award for Human
Sciences and Services.
The Professional Studies Outstanding Student Award for
nursing will go to December 2000 nursing graduate, Polly Ann Scholze, Eau
Claire.
The Graduate Studies Outstanding Student Award for the
College of Arts and Sciences will be awarded to December 2000 master of English
graduate, Kimberly Newport, Berlin.
The Graduate Studies Outstanding Student Award for the
College of Business will be awarded to December 2000 master of business
administration graduate, Chris Powell, Altoona.
Margaret McDonah, a December 2000 master of science
graduate from Rochester, Minn., will receive the Graduate Studies
Outstanding Student Award for the College of Professional Studies.
Two scholarship recipients also will be recognized during
the luncheon. Senior Susan Paulus, a comprehensive nursing major from Altoona,
will receive the $500 Hibbard Scholarship. Junior Kirsten Bergquist, a business
administration major from Buffalo, Minn., will receive the $500 Leonard
and Dorellen Haas Scholarship.
