EAU CLAIRE The University of
Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Jazz Ensemble I will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May
3, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
The ensemble, under the direction of associate professor
of music and theatre arts Robert Baca, will perform seven selections and feature
many student soloists, several of whom recently won prestigious musical awards.
The concert will begin with Joe Henderson's
"Inner
Urge." Other selections will include "Evidence" by Thelonious Monk,
"Sing, Sing, Sing" by Louis Prima and "Bird Count" by Maria Schneider.
Tickets, available at the University Service Center,
(715) 836-3727, are $4.75 for adults; $3.75 for those age 62 and older, children
17 and younger, and faculty or staff with a university ID; or $1.25 for students
with a university ID.
