EAU CLAIRE The University of
Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team placed 16th out of 101 schools at
the American Forensics Association national tournament held at George Mason
University in Fairfax, Virginia, April 6-9.
Karen Piercy, director of
forensics, said it was one of the most competitive national tournaments she had
ever seen. "I am very proud of our team for placing 16th in the
nation out of the 101 schools attending."
Junior Aaron Unseth, Plato, Minn., finished sixth
in the nation in communication analysis.
Senior Arwen Williams, Eau Claire, advanced to the
semifinals round of informative speaking.
The following students reached quarterfinal rounds:
seniors Arwen Dale, Eau Claire, informative speaking; and Catherine
Dunham, Hartland, impromptu speaking and communication analysis.
The forensics team will next compete at the National
Forensics Association national tournament at Western Kentucky University.
