EAU CLAIRE
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education, Nursing will present a program titled The Nurse at Camp: Bats, Bugs, Band-Aids at Wisconsin Lions Camp, Rosholt. It will meet from noon to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, May 10, and from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 11.
The program will present information needed for a successful camp nursing experience, including an introduction to camp as a community, dispelling the myths surrounding homesickness, risk management and control of communicable diseases. There also will be a four-hour first-aid skills component. School nurses are encouraged to attend.
Linda Ebner Erceg, health and safety coordinator for Concordia Language Village in Bemidji, Minn., and executive director of the Association of Camp Nurses, will present the program.
Cost for the program is $150, which includes instructional materials, refreshments and four meals. Participants may earn 15.9 continuing education contact hours, and the program organizer has applied for Department of Public Instruction clock hours.
Registration deadline is April 25.
