The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education, Nursing will present a program titled
"What You Really Need to Know Right Now: Psychopharmacology for the Advanced Practice Nurse in Primary Care"
from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at the Best Western Midway Hotel, Eau Claire.
The program will look at the fine art of managing psychoactive medications used for the treatment of common behavioral disorders. Emphasis will be placed on the use of atypical antipsychotics, antidepressants, anti-anxiety agents, mood stabilizers and the off-label use of other medications in the treatment of children, adolescents and adults. The course will meet the needs of nurses in advanced practice who are eligible for prescriptive privileges.
Dr. Todd A. Johnson, assistant professor with the College of Pharmacy, University of Minnesota; Dr. Elaine Wendt, associate professor of family health nursing; and Dr. David Amend, Northwest Pediatric Specialties Inc., Frederic, will present the program.
Cost for the program is $85, which includes instructional materials, refreshments and lunch. Participants may earn eight continuing education contact hours.
Registration deadline is April 20.
