The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education, Nursing will present When Living Hurts: Depression Across the Life Span from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 20, at the Park Inn & Suites, Eau Claire.
The program, which targets nurses, nurse practitioners and mental health professionals, will address the scope and current treatment of depression across the life span, the use of common screening tools and the recognition of depression in a primary care setting.
The following people will present the program: Dr. Scott Persing, adult psychiatrist, and Dr. Mark Attermeier, family practice physician, Luther Midelfort-Mayo Health System; Dr. Lois B. Taft, associate professor of nursing systems and clinical specialist in gerontological nursing; Karen Maddox, assistant professor of family health nursing; and Dr. Katherine Schneider, senior psychologist for UW-Eau Claire Counseling Services.
Cost of the program is $85, which includes instructional materials, refreshments and lunch. Participants may earn six continuing education contact hours, and the program organizer has applied for Department of Public Instruction clock hours.
Registration deadline is April 5.
