EAU CLAIRE
University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music faculty members and alumnae will present The Music of Venice to Broadway in Divas II: Live in Concert Friday, March 30.
The fund-raising event, which will benefit the Eau Claire Childrens Theatre, will be held at 8 p.m. at The State: Regional Arts Center.
Wisconsin Public Radios Norman Gilliland will host the performance by the following women: professor of music and theatre arts Dr. Kathryn Proctor Duax, assistant professor of music and theatre arts Dr. Karen Brookens, 1973 graduate Linda Booton, 1990 graduate Jennifer Santoro-Rotty and 1994 graduate Tammy (McCormack) Brice.
A cocktail reception and pre-concert presentation will precede the performance. The reception, which will be held on the stage, will run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. with jazz music performed by senior music major Nick Poss. Dr. Margaret Dwyer, UW-Eau Claire associate chancellor and chief information officer, will offer welcoming comments.
Gilliland will lead a discussion based on the performers repertoire beginning at 7:15 p.m. in Backdoor Gallery.
Tickets, which are available from the Eau Claire Childrens Theatre, are $20 per person including the reception or $12 per adult or $8 per student for the performance only.
Sponsors of the event are the UW-Eau Claire Alumni Association, Clifton Gunderson LLP, Eau Claire Regional Arts Council, Wisconsin Public Radio and the UW-Eau Claire Activities and Programs office.
