A Viennese Ball dance workshop at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will help patrons brush up on or develop their ballroom dancing skills before the 27th Annual Viennese Ball, scheduled for April 20-21 on campus.
Dr. Ida Hinz, former chair of the UW-Eau Claire department of physical education, and regional dance instructors David and Karen Goggin will conduct the six-session workshop.
Beginner-level sessions will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and intermediate-level sessions will meet from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on the following dates: Thursday, March 29; Tuesday, April 3; Thursday, April 5; Tuesday, April 10; Tuesday, April 17; and Thursday, April 19.
The first four classes will meet in the Tamarack Room of Davies Center, while the last two classes will meet in Zorn Arena.
Instruction will focus on the waltz (slow, medium and fast), fox trot, swing and polka. Up to 50 people at any skill level may register alone or with partners.
Registration is $20 per person ($10 for UW System and Chippewa Valley Technical College students) at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727. The workshop is sponsored by the Activities and Programs office.
