EAU CLAIRE
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire has announced that a dining services initiative for feeding the less fortunate has passed the $10,000 fund-raising mark.
Soups On, an event sponsored by Chartwells educational dining services, was held Feb. 20. First presented in November 1995, the program generates donations for Feed My People, an Eau Claire food pantry that distributes donated food and other products to nonprofit agencies serving senior citizens, single parents, the working poor, the homeless, the mentally ill and others in need throughout the Chippewa Valley.
Once each semester the usual evening bill of fare at Hilltop Centers Riverview Cafe is replaced with soup and bread. UW-Eau Claire students pay standard meal prices, and half of what they pay is donated to Feed My People. Tables in the cafeteria solicit additional donations.
UW-Eau Claires dining services program is administered by University Centers and Programs. -30- JS/BW
