The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire residence halls again will offer students the choice to live in substance-free wings during the 2001-02 academic year.
Students currently residing in the residence halls may reapply for housing Feb. 27-28. Substance-free housing which prohibits alcohol and smoke (cigarette and incense) is available in the following locations: Horan Hall (1st floor south), Oak Ridge Hall (2nd floor west), Bridgman Hall (1st floor east and west) and Towers Hall-North (2nd floor north and south).
I am very pleased that our substance-free wings continue to be a good choice for our students who choose not to be bothered by the secondhand effects of drinking, said Jodi Thesing-Ritter, Towers Hall-North residence hall director. I am also proud that for fall 2000 these wings recorded the highest GPA in each of the four halls where they are located. Our students choosing to live a substance-free lifestyle are reaping the benefits of that choice.
Contact Thesing-Ritter, (715) 836-3327 or thesinjm@uwec.edu, for more information about substance-free living in UW-Eau Claire residence halls. -30- BW
