The 2001 Student Leadership Recognition Awards Ceremony at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will begin with a reception at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center.
The accomplishments of student leaders, organizations and organization advisers are celebrated at the campus-wide program, which is free and open to all.
The program will open with remarks by Dr. Ronald Satz, provost and vice chancellor, and Chancellor Donald Mash. Famous Dave Anderson, founder of Famous Daves Barbeque, will give a presentation titled Thoughts on Leadership.
The seven applicants for the Student Organization Award and the six nominees for the Student Organization Adviser Award then will be introduced. The awards will be presented by Charles Grossklaus, vice chairman of the UW-Eau Claire Foundation Inc. The awards recognize student organizations and advisers who have demonstrated distinguished service to campus and community, creative programming, and involvement in the university.
Four of the 141 outstanding student leaders who have been nominated by faculty, staff and students will receive the Student Leadership Award. All nominees will be introduced, and the awards will be presented by Tim Coburn, president of the UW-Eau Claire Alumni Association. The emerging and established student leaders will be recognized for their dependability, creativity, group interaction skills, contributions to the campus or community, and leadership qualities.
The program is sponsored by the UW-Eau Claire Alumni Association; Burger King of Eau Claire; Chartwells Inc.; the UW-Eau Claire Dean of Students Office; the UW-Eau Claire Foundation Inc.; the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate; and University Centers and Programs.
