EAU CLAIRE
Minneapolis rock-and-roll band The Big Wu will perform Friday, Feb. 2, at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Doors will open at 8 p.m. for the concert in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center. Scarlet Runner will open the show.
Not only is it one of the hottest bands on the Minneapolis scene, wrote Relix Magazine, but The Big Wu is also a rising star in the national jam band community that continues to grow around groups like Phish, Leftover Salmon and Widespread Panic.
Mixing funk grooves, bubbling rhythms and catching pop hooks with flecks of bluegrass, country and jazz, The Big Wu has established itself as the heartlands premier grassroots attraction. The bands newest CD is Folktales (Phoenix Rising, released in October).
Tickets are $9 ($5 for UW-Eau Claire students) at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727, and will be sold at the door. The show is open to all ages; proof of age is required in the bar area.
Patrons may charge their tickets to MasterCard or Visa when they order by phone. Call the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727 or, outside the immediate Eau Claire area, call toll-free (800) 949-UWEC. A $3 handling fee will be added to all telephone charge orders.
The concert is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate. -30- JS/BW
