EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire has announced the spring semester schedule of performances in The Cabin, the Davies Center coffeehouse that hosts free performances nearly every weekend and jazz concerts on many Wednesday nights.
The schedule includes monthly open stage opportunities for campus and area talent; open prose and poetry readings sponsored each month by NOTA (None of the Above), the campus literary magazine; and performances by UW-Eau Claire students, faculty/staff, community members, and nationally touring artists. All performances are completely produced and managed by student members of The Cabin Committee of the Student Senate’s University Activities Commission.
The spring semester schedule begins with shows by UW-Eau Claire student Dan Bergen and friends (Friday-Saturday, Jan. 26-27). Highlights of the semester follow:
Featured professional artists include Tony Brown (Feb. 8-10), The Todd Harrold Band (March 8 and 10), Kraig Kenning (April 5-7) and Les Sampou (April 26-28).
Thursday-night NOTA open readings will take place Feb. 1, March 1, March 29 and May 3.
Open stage opportunities will be presented Saturday, Feb. 3; Friday, March 2; Saturday, March 31; and Friday, May 4. Anyone interested in performing is invited to sign up in the Student Senate Office, Davies Center 132, before 4:30 p.m. on the day of the show.
Western Wisconsin’s finest jazz musicians will perform on select Wednesdays: Feb. 14, 21 and 28; March 7, 14 and 28; April 4 and 11; and May 2 and 9.
All shows begin at 8 p.m. Cabin performances are free and open to all ages. Soda, domestic and imported beer, wine coolers and popcorn are sold at all Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening programs. Proof of age is required for alcohol purchases.
