The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claires Vocal Jazz will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
Daniel Newman, associate professor of music and theatre arts, will direct the group while they sing 10 selections.
The selections are chosen to address the experience and needs of the ensemble, Newman said.
To start the program the group will sing Puttin on the Ritz by Irving Berlin and arranged by Mark Henderson. At one point the women of the group will perform a selection by themselves when they sing How About You by Hoagy Carmichael, arranged by Ed Lojeski.
The group also will perform Come Sunday by Duke Ellington and You Can Call Me Al by Paul Simon, as well as two songs Newman arranged: Dont Worry, Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin and Fascinating Rhythm by George Gershwin.
Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727, are $3.75 for adults; $2.75 for those age 62 and older, children 17 and younger, and faculty or staff with a university ID; or free for students with a university ID. -30- LK/BW
