The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will celebrate Homecoming Weekend Oct. 13-15 with a variety of activities to bring together alumni from across the state and country.
The UW-Eau Claire Continuing Education, Nursing will offer a program for nurses titled "Reawakening of the Heart of Nursing: Integrating Holism and Complementary Care In Nursing Practice," which will be held from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at the Best Western Midway Hotel, Eau Claire.
The program was created as a retreat in which nurses and other health professionals can explore and renew their personal connection to the nursing practice. Pam Gavrill, a registered nurse and instructor for Seeds and Bridges, Center for Holistic Nursing Education in Amherst, Mass., will present the program, which costs $85.
Other events hosted by the School of Nursing on Friday include tours of the School of Nursing from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. and a School of Nursing Celebratory Dinner from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Spruce/Tamarack Room of Davies Center. Cost for the dinner is $20.
A Chili Feed, open to all alumni, students and friends, will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center. Jason Craft, a 1999 UW-Eau Claire alumnus, will play piano jazz and show tunes during the event. The cost is $6.25. Blugold cards will be accepted at the door. To register by the Oct. 10 deadline, call the Alumni Association, (715) 836-3266.
The Class of '74 Nursing Reunion will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, in the Dulany Inn of Davies Center.
Immediately following the football game, an Alumni Open House Reception will be held from 3 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 14 in the Council Fire Room of Davies Center. The reception will feature '50s and '60s music performed by The Thundermen. Snacks and a cash bar also will be available.
Also on Saturday, an Honors Program Reunion Reception will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Dulany Inn of Davies Center.
