The annual Chancellor's Walk for Safety will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Chancellor Donald Mash, university administrators, student body president Justin Hentges, student senators and other students, faculty and staff will walk around upper and lower campus to determine if UW-Eau Claire's campus is well-lit and safe enough to meet the needs of students, faculty and staff, said junior Kristen Haugen, director of the Student Services Commission for UW-Eau Claire's Student Senate. The group will meet in front of Chancellor's Hall to begin the walk.
Should the group find a need for more lighting or for any repairs, Haugen said she expects the problem will be taken care of within a couple of weeks.
The Student Senate sponsors the Chancellor's Walk for Safety every year. Haugen and junior Sara Williams, transportation safety affairs chair, are planning this year's walk. Haugen said most campuses have walks similar to this.
