The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's 43rd annual Career Information Conference will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, in Zorn Arena.
The conference provides an opportunity for all university students to gain information on various businesses. More than 120 companies will be on campus to recruit students from a wide variety of majors, said senior Jenni Pellowski, an accounting major on Beta Upsilon Sigma's conference organizing committee.
"There is quite a variety of businesses coming," Pellowski said. Companies will be looking for future employees from a range of majors, including business, chemistry, criminal justice and sociology.
"A lot of companies come here predominately to hire," said Pellowski, but she also stressed that the conference offers a great opportunity for underclassmen to talk with businesses about possible internships and future employment. "It's great to make contacts at any level in college," she said.
Companies will come from the Milwaukee and Minneapolis areas, as well as throughout the country. There also will be representatives from graduate schools to talk with students.
Beta Upsilon Sigma is sponsoring the Career Information Conference. For more information, e-mail Jenni Pellowski at pellowsj@uwec.edu. -30- SF/BW
