EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education, Nursing will present a program for nurses titled "Herbs in Health Care," which will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, at the Holiday Inn Campus Area, Eau Claire.
          The program will provide an update on the use of herbs in health care, an overview of the herbal market — including quality, safety and legal issues — and an in-depth review of individual herbs and their medicinal uses — including side effects, contraindications, drug interactions, dosages and pharmacology.
          The presenter of the program is David La Luzerne, a registered pharmacist and owner of the Green Earth natural medicine stores in Madison. La Luzerne has studied and used herbs for more than 20 years.
          The program costs $95, which includes instructional materials, lunch and refreshments. Participants may earn six continuing education contact hours.
