EAU CLAIRE
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire has announced the fall semester schedule of performances in The Cabin, the Davies Center coffeehouse that hosts free performances nearly every weekend and jazz concerts on many Wednesday nights.
The schedule includes monthly open stage opportunities for campus and area talent; open prose and poetry readings sponsored each month by NOTA (None of the Above), the campus literary magazine; and performances by UW-Eau Claire students, faculty, staff, community members and nationally touring artists. All performances are produced and managed completely by student members of The Cabin Committee of the Student Senate's University Activities Commission.
The fall semester schedule begins with shows by UW-Eau Claire student Dan Bergen Sept. 8-9. Highlights of the semester follow:
- Featured professional artists include bluesman Paul Filipowicz (Sept. 14-16), Inda Eaton (Oct. 5-7), Janet McLaughlin (Nov. 9-11), and the Mambo Surfers (Dec. 7-9).
- Thursday-night NOTA open readings will take place Sept. 28, Oct. 26, Nov. 16 and Dec. 14.
- Open stage opportunities will be presented Saturday, Sept. 30; Friday, Oct. 27; Saturday, Nov. 18; and Friday, Dec. 15. Anyone interested in performing is invited to sign up in the Student Senate Office, 132 Davies Center, before 4:30 p.m. on the day of the show.
- Western Wisconsin's finest jazz musicians will perform on select Wednesdays (Sept. 20 and 27; Oct. 4, 11, 18 and 25; Nov. 1, 8, 15 and 29; and Dec. 6 and 13).
All shows begin at 8 p.m. Cabin performances are free and open to all ages. Pop, domestic and imported beer, wine coolers and popcorn are sold at all Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening programs. Proof of age is required for alcohol purchases.
