The Charles F. White Memorial Scholarship fund at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire recently received a $20,000 gift from the late Patricia S. White's estate and Patricia S. White Family Trust. Patricia was Charles' mother.
The scholarship monies provide assistance to business, management and marketing students in financial need who have completed their first two years of studies, are in good academic standing and participate in extracurricular activities.
"Over the years the Charles F. White Memorial Scholarship has been awarded to some wonderful recipients who have expressed their appreciation for the assistance they have received," said Charles E. White who, along with his wife, established the memorial scholarship in 1983.
Most recently the Charles F. White Memorial Scholarship, worth $500, was awarded to Lori Christians, a senior marketing major from Wausau.
"These well-planned estate gifts have now tripled the size of the endowed scholarship. Next year there will be multiple awards at a higher amount," said Dr. Jerry Richards, director of special gifts for the UW-Eau Claire Foundation Inc.
"UW-Eau Claire greatly appreciates the educational opportunities this scholarship has provided and will continue to provide to talented students who are in financial need," Richards said.
