EAU CLAIRE
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire is inviting Chippewa Valley organizations and agencies to submit information for its 2000-01 directory of volunteer service opportunities.
The university's Community Action and Lifelong Learning program provides information and matching services for UW-Eau Claire students, faculty, staff and others seeking service opportunities in the greater Eau Claire area. The program fosters intellectual and ethical development in individuals through community service activity and provides volunteer-seeking organizations with access to a large pool of talented and educated potential volunteers.
Published annually in August, the CALL Directory lists agencies and organizations that provide opportunities to enhance learning through service to the community. Other CALL programs and services include the following:
- Community Action Day, a once-per-semester recruitment event that brings area agencies and potential volunteers together.
- Consultants for Involvement Activities, who provide peer advisement, placement and follow-up activities to students.
- The Community Action! bimonthly newsletter listing community needs and opportunities for service.
- Volunteer training, recognition activities, and coordination of city-wide awareness and community service programs.
Volunteer-seeking organizations that wish to be included on the CALL mailing list and/or in the CALL Directory should contact program coordinator Paula Stuettgen, (715) 836-4803, by June 6. -30- JS/BW
