EAU CLAIRE
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team placed ninth at the National Forensics Association national tournament at Ohio University (Athens) April 13-17.
Two students placed in the top 20 in pentathalon, meaning they competed in five events at the tournament. Junior Eric Rasmussen, Eau Claire, finished in 17th place, and senior Reid Sollberger, Spooner, placed 20th.
Rasmussen also finished second in the nation in after-dinner speaking and qualified for quarterfinals (top 24 individuals) in two duo interpretations, one with Sollberger and the other with junior Arwen Dale, Eau Claire.
Sollberger placed third in the nation in informative speaking, and Dale finished fourth in the nation in persuasive speaking.
Junior Arwen Williams, Eau Claire, qualified for semifinals (top 12 individuals) in informative speaking. Sophomore Aaron Unseth, Plato, Minn., qualified for quarterfinals in prose interpretation. -30- BW
