The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Women's Concert Chorale will give its spring concert at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 30, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
Under the direction of Stephen Rosolack, associate professor of music and theatre arts, the choir will perform 13 works.
The show will open with "Come Let Us Start a Joyful Song" by Hans Leo Hassler. Additional songs to be sung in the first half of the program include "Choose Something Like a Star" by Randall Thompson and Knut Nystedt's "Suoni" (Sound), Op. 62.
"This work is in four movements and is an interplay of vocal and instrumental sounds created around a 12-note tone row," Rosolack said. Seniors Sarah Eberth, Wyoming, Minn., and Brian Spurgeon, River Falls, will provide accompaniment on the flute and marimba, respectively, for this piece.
The second half of the show will consist of seven works, including "Bought Locks" by Peter Menin, "While Hearts are Singing" by Oscar Straus and arranged by Mario Agnolucci, and "Hail Holy Queen" (Sister Act) arranged by Marc Shaiman. Junior Ondra Williams, Clinton, will perform a solo during this final piece.
Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727, are $4.75 for adults; $3.75 for those age 62 and older, children 17 and younger, and faculty or staff with a university ID; or $1.25 for students with a university ID.
