EAU CLAIRE
Songwriter Stuart Davis will perform three free concerts at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire April 27-29. The shows will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday in The Cabin, Davies Center.
Having sold more than 14,000 CDs, most of them from the stage, Davis has become a sizable independent artist while remaining unknown in the mainstream music industry. While upbeat songs about sex, death and God may have Nashville keeping him at arm's length, they also have brought him a passionate fan base that has supported him through eight albums and a decade of touring.
"I'm really happy selling two or three thousand records when I release an album," Davis says. "I'm lucky to make a living recording and performing original songs."
The St. Paul Pioneer Press called Davis "an ambitious, thoroughly satisfying, gifted songwriter. When Davis' acoustic guitar and mellifluous voice pontificates on the modern world, it does so with superb wit and insight."
The shows are free and open to all ages. Proof of age is required for alcohol purchase. The Cabin program is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate. -30- JS/BW
