EAU CLAIRE
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education in Nursing/UW-Extension will sponsor a program titled "Geriatric Pharmacology for Nurses" from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Friday, May 5, at the Holiday Inn Campus Area, Eau Claire.
The program is designed to assist nurses who work with the elderly to understand the way aging influences elderly persons' response to medication. Topics include action of drugs in the elderly, factors that influence drug actions, monitoring for therapeutic effects, adverse drug reactions and interventions to promote safe, effective drug use in the elderly.
The presenter will be Dr. Todd A. Johnson, assistant professor for the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy and clinical pharmacist for Lake Region Hospital and Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center in Fergus Falls, Minn.
The program costs $90, which includes instructional materials, lunch and refreshments. Participants may earn six continuing education contact hours. The registration deadline is Monday, April 24.
