EAU CLAIRE
Three free presentations on environmental and social issues will be sponsored by University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire organizations in April.
Marie Braun, a member of Women Against Military Madness and the Twin Cities Campaign to Lift Sanctions, will discuss the effects of the U.N.-imposed economic sanctions on Iraq and its people. Her presentation will begin at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, in the Wisconsin Room, Davies Center. Braun, who has traveled in Iraq, also will show a video on the sanctions.
Will Fantle, an active Eau Claire environmentalist for 25 years, will discuss environmental warning signs, including the spreading extinction crisis, toxic contamination and growth, and consumer consumption. His presentation will take place at 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, in the Eagle Room, Davies Center.
Braun's and Fantle's presentations are sponsored by the Social and Environmental Action Coalition.
Dr. Warren Porter, UW-Madison toxicologist, will present his findings of the effects of pesticides on children at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in Room 101 of Hibbard Humanities Hall. The presentation is sponsored by the Conservationists.
