Jazz Ensemble II
To Perform April 19
MAILED: April 5, 2000|
In its 32nd year, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Jazz Ensemble II will give a concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
Ron Keezer, associate professor of music and theatre arts, will direct 20 students in a concert featuring 12 selections.
Some of the works to be performed include Dizzy Gillespie's "Manteca," four selections by Ted Pease, and Duke Ellington's "Emancipation Celebration," "Just A-Settin' and A-Rockin'" and "West Indian Dance."
"This music was chosen because it's good music," Keezer said. "And the reason Jazz II has lasted so long is because it's good music we're playing."
The concert will feature numerous student soloists on instruments such as trumpet, tenor saxophone, alto saxophone, piano, drums and trombone.
Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727, are $3.75 for adults; $2.75 for seniors, children 17 and under and faculty or staff with a university ID; or free for students with a university ID.
