EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Monday, April 3. All events are free and open to the public.


  • Senior Steven Skov, Fargo, N.D., will play the tuba for a student recital at 5 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Community member Judy Lies will accompany him on the piano. Among the works to be played are Georg Friedrich Handel's Sonata No. 6, which was transcribed by R. Winston Morris, and Johannes Brahms' "Alte Liebe" Op. 71, No. 1.

  • Senior Koral Rose Curkeet, Eau Claire, will give a mezzo-soprano student recital titled "A Woman's Life" at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Curkeet will be accompanied by junior Ondra Williams, Clinton, and assisted by juniors Lisa Butcher, Woodbury, Minn., soprano, and Aimee Paar, Verona, violin; seniors Jeff Madison, Woodbury, Minn., baritone, Samantha Pittenger, White Bear Lake, Minn., clarinet, and Gwen Blume, Marathon, flute; and community member Melissa Lyon, Manitowoc, cello. The 14 songs are grouped in seven sections, which work together to tell the story of a woman's life.

  • A clarinet student recital will be given by senior Jill Grehn, Ashland, at 5 p.m. in the Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Senior Lona Wallace, Richland Center, will accompany her on the piano. Senior Kristy Novak, Manitowoc, will assist her on the clarinet, and junior Jennifer Chase, Sun Prairie, will assist on the flute. Among the five works to be played are "Erwin Fantasia" by Georges Meister and George Frederic Handel's Allegro.
