EAU CLAIRE
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire forensics team qualified an additional 14 events for the American Forensics Association national tournament when it competed in the District IV qualifying tournament March 10-11.
The tournament, which was held at UW-Eau Claire, provides a final opportunity for students to qualify events for the national tournament.
Junior Jodi Becker, Germantown, qualified impromptu speaking and duo interpretation with senior Reid Sollberger, Brooklyn Park, Minn. Sollberger also qualified informative speaking and prose interpretation. His placing in prose qualified the event for the National Forensics Association national tournament as well.
Junior Barbara Ellevold, Pulaski, qualified prose interpretation, dramatic interpretation and duo interpretation with sophomore Scott Boras, Kellogg, Minn.
The following students also qualified events for the national tournament: junior Arwen Dale, Eau Claire, prose interpretation and communication analysis; senior Cate Dunham, Hartland, after-dinner speaking; sophomore Aaron Unseth, Plato, Minn., persuasive speaking; junior Arwen Williams, Eau Claire, persuasive speaking; freshman Ben Schneider, Greendale, impromptu speaking and poetry interpretation.
The forensics team will compete April 1-3 at the AFA national tournament in Lincoln, Neb., and April 13-17 at the NFA national tournament in Athens, Ohio. -30- BW
