MAILED: March 15, 2000
EAU CLAIRE
Managed health care continues to be a controversial topic for the public and health care professionals. The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Continuing Education in Nursing will sponsor a program titled "Proving the Value of Nursing in Managed Care" from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 6, at the Quality Inn, Eau Claire.
The program will present a financially sound business case that demonstrates nursing is more than "nice people doing nice things." Topics to be addressed include a population-based approach to managing chronic illness, emerging roles for nurses in disease management, ethics, confidentiality and strategic partnerships.
Kathleen Valentine, Ph.D., R.N., corporate manager for Population Health Blue Shield of California, will present the program.
The program costs $90. Attendees will earn six continuing education contact hours. The registration deadline is Monday, March 27.
Contact the Continuing Education in Nursing/UW-Extension office, (715) 836-5745, for more information. -30- BW
