EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Monday, March 27. All events are free and open to the public.

MONDAY, MARCH 27:

  • A student recital will be held at 7:30 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Senior Curtis W. Vellenga, Sisseton, S.D., will perform the french horn to works such as "Aesop's Fables" by Anthony Plog and "Elegy for Mippy I" by Leonard Bernstein. Community member Judy Lies will accompany Vellenga on the piano, and Dr. Jerry Young, professor of music and theatre arts, will narrate for "Aesop's Fables."
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 29:

  • Rebecca Rollins will play the piano for a guest concert titled "Piano Music of Women Composers" at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Rollins, who focuses on collaborative and interdisciplinary presentations of women composers, will perform nine works, including pieces written by Lili Boulanger, Ruth Crawford Seeger, Amy Marcy Cheney Beach and Margaret Bonds.
SUNDAY, APRIL 2:

  • Paul Kosower, professor of music and theatre arts, will perform an organ concert at 4 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Guest artist Paula C. Kosower will play the cello. The concert will feature works by three great French composers — Cesar Franck, Marcel Dupre and Louis Vierne.
