Klun to Continue Another Year as
Interim Dean of Professional Studies
MAILED: March 8, 2000|
Dr. Carol Klun will continue in her role as interim dean of the College of Professional Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire for another year, Chancellor Donald Mash announced today.
The College of Professional Studies Search and Screen Committee, chaired by Dr. William Dunlap, determined that it could not forward names to the Chancellor and Provost for consideration. Dunlap asked that his committee be discharged and a new search committee formed.
"We are fortunate to have a qualified and respected colleague who is willing to continue in her role as interim dean through the 2000-2001 academic year," Mash said of Klun. "We are confident that Dr. Klun's leadership will allow the college to continue to thrive as we search for the very best person to lead it in the future."
Klun, who previously served as associate dean of the School of Human Sciences and Services, was appointed interim dean in May 1999 when Dr. Ronald Satz was appointed Provost and Vice Chancellor. Patricia Christopherson, former chair of the social work department, has assumed Klun's associate dean responsibilities and will continue to do so through the 2000-2001 academic year.
The College of Professional Studies is made up of the School of Human Sciences and Services, the School of Education and the School of Nursing. Satz said he will meet with faculty and academic staff in each of the three schools before a new search committee is elected this spring. During those meetings, he will review the search and screen procedures and lay the groundwork for an aggressive search that will begin in the fall.
