EAU CLAIRE — The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Monday, March 13. All events are free and open to the public.


  • A flute studio recital will be held at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The students, who will play individually, include junior Jennifer Chase, Sun Prairie; sophomores Christina Lobe, Baraboo, Chandra Laessig, Stratford, Roshann Sarfehjoo, Edina, Minn., Caarin Hagen, Stillwater, Minn., Courtney Gritzmacher, West Allis, Heidi Olsen, Green Bay, Katie Solberg, Eau Claire, and Sandra Bell, Beaver Dam; and freshmen Melissa Weis, Oconomowoc, Rachel Dahl, Appleton, Mariel Carter, Marinette, Michelle DeGroot, Appleton, Sydney Francis, Fort Atkinson, Sara Heitzinger, Stevens Point, and Amy McFarlane, Menasha.

  • The Student National Association of Teachers of Singing will perform at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Student performers include seniors Jeff Madison, Woodbury, Minn.; Koral Rose Curkeet, Eau Claire; and Sara Paar, Verona; junior Lisa Butcher, Woodbury, Minn.; sophomore Melissa Hegel, Coon Rapids, Minn.; and freshman Melissa Gallagher, Wautoma. Jack Young, a junior from Eau Claire, will provide violin accompaniment for one work. Some of the works that will be performed include Johannes Brahms "Auf dem Kirchofe," Madeleine Duag's "Sister Awake" and Felix Mendelssohn's "Herbstlied."

  • The Wisconsin Woodwind Quintet will perform at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The five members include professors of music and theatre arts Dr. Tim Lane, flute, Ivar Lunde, oboe, and Dr. Richard Fletcher, clarinet; senior lecturer Dr. Kristine Fletcher, bassoon; and associate lecturer Andrew Parks, horn. Guest artist Lillian Tan will provide accompaniment on the piano. The group will perform five works, which include Elliot Carter's Woodwind Quintet, "Lisbon" by Percy Aldridge Grainger and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Quintet in E flat, K. 52.

  • UW-Eau Claire 1991 graduates Amy Schneider and David Moody will perform an alumni recital at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Schneider is a mezzo-soprano and Moody a pianist. Included in the works to be performed are G. F. Handel's "Scherza Infida" from "Ariodante" and "Charm of Lullabies," Op. 41 by Benjamin Britten
