EAU CLAIRE
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Monday, Feb. 21. All events are free and open to the public.
TUESDAY, FEB. 22:
- Junior Aimee Paar, Verona, will perform a violin recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Senior Sara Paar, Verona, will accompany her on piano for the performance including Edvard Grieg's Sonata No. 3 in C minor, Op. 45, and Felix Mendelssohn's Concerto for Violin in E minor, Op. 64.
THURSDAY, FEB. 24:
- A joint student recital will be given by senior Paula Meier, Prescott, and senior James Gornick, Lancaster, at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Junior Jennifer Johnson, Maribel, will provide accompaniment on piano. As part of the program, Gornick will play the saxophone for a work by Dr. Michael Cunningham, professor of music and theatre arts, and Meier will perform on trumpet a work by Alexander Arutunian. The two students also will play Aaron Copland's "Quiet City."
SUNDAY, FEB. 27:
- Professors of music and theatre arts Ivar Lunde Jr. and Nanette Lunde will perform a joint recital on the oboe and harpsichord, respectively, at 4 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Guest artist Beverly Soll, performing arts and special events coordinator, will accompany them on the piano. The performance will include two premiere pieces: Nocturne for Oboe and Piano by Allan J. Segall and Ivar Lunde Jr.'s Insectum Communis for Solo Harpsichord.
