EAU CLAIRE
Susan Tietz, owner and chief executive officer of McDonough Manufacturing Co., has completed a $77,000 pledge to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
The pledge, made in 1995 and completed eight years ahead of schedule, provided funding for the development of a state-of-the-art communication lab for UW-Eau Claire business students.
"As a business owner in this community, I felt the creation of the business communication lab at UW-Eau Claire was an opportunity for me to establish a tool to encourage and support the university's activities in developing tomorrow's leaders," Tietz said.
Today, all presentation courses in the business communication department at UW-Eau Claire are taught in the Susan K. Tietz/McDonough Manufacturing Business Communication Lab. The lab allows more than 2,000 College of Business students to use the latest technologies to prepare and deliver classroom and conference presentations.
"Students in the College of Business gain invaluable experience in career skills through use of the Tietz/McDonough facility," said Dr. Jack Fistler, president of the UW-Eau Claire Foundation. "We are so grateful to Sue, her husband, Roger, and McDonough Manufacturing for their generosity."
Tietz, a 1971 UW-Eau Claire graduate, made the final $16,500 gift to the UW-Eau Claire Foundation earlier this year.
