'Emerging Media' Exhibit
To Open at Foster Gallery
MAILED: Jan. 20, 2000|
An upcoming exhibit at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will focus on the use of light and sound in installation art. The exhibit, titled "Emerging Media: Memory and Recollection," will run Jan. 27 through Feb. 17 in the Foster Gallery of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
An opening reception will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, in the Foster Gallery.
The show features the work of San Francisco artists Jim Campbell and Paul DeMarinis. Campbell's work centers around the manipulation of light and the use of video to display the movement of light. DeMarinis has been working with the use of sound in different methods of producing and amplifying sound waves. Both artists have exhibited across the United States, as well as in Europe, Asia and Australia.
Michael Solway of Los Angeles will curate the exhibit. He also will discuss the California art scene and artists working in the electronic media Jan. 27 at noon in the Foster Gallery.
DeMarinis will speak about his work and the exhibit Friday, Jan. 28, at noon in the Foster Gallery. Attendees may take lunch to eat during Solway's and DeMarinis' presentations.
Foster Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays and 1-4:30 p.m. weekends. For more information about gallery exhibits, call Tom Wagener at (715) 836-2328.
