For adults interested in learning new skills and meeting people, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire College of Arts and Sciences Continuing Education/UW-Extension is offering Saturday Samplers.
"Stampin' & Scrappin'" will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 5 in 317 Phillips Science Hall. Participants will combine rubber stamping techniques and memory book page design to create a memory book page and a Valentine card or treat bag. The workshop cost of $25 covers instruction and materials.
"The World of Antiques" covers general information about antiques, as well as what it takes to start and run an antique business. Participants should take with them one small antique to be appraised during the workshop, which will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 19 in 101 Hibbard Humanities Hall. The $20 fee includes instruction and appraisal.
In "Fancy Framework" participants will learn about selecting colors for frames and mats, border sizes and mat cuttings, as well as how light can affect artwork. Participants should take a 5-by-7 photo or card to the workshop to receive suggestions on framing and matting it. The workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to noon March 11 in 317 Phillips Science Hall. The $25 fee covers instruction and materials, including an 8-by-10 frame.
