Collin Raye to Perform
Feb. 18 at UW-Eau Claire
MAILED: Jan. 14, 2000|
Tickets are now on sale for a concert by Epic recording artist Collin Raye on Friday, Feb. 18, at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. A three-time Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music nominee who attained platinum status with his first three albums, Raye will begin his show at 8 p.m. in Zorn Arena.
Raye's compilation release, "The Best of Collin Raye Direct Hits," spent the first half of 1998 in the top 20 on Billboard magazine's Top Country Albums chart. The first single, "What the Heart Wants," reached No. 2 on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart; "Little Red Rodeo," the follow-up single, climbed into Radio & Records Country Top 50. Raye finished 1997 with top 20 positions on multiple Billboard year-end charts, including those for Top Country Album and Top Country Artist, and he was featured in a Nashville Network TV special. His fifth studio album, "The Walls Came Down," was released to critical acclaim in 1998.
Raye's interpretive skills have resonated with country audiences since "Love Me," from his critically acclaimed "All I Can Be" debut, spent three weeks at No. 1. "In This Life" became the wedding song of 1993; and "Little Rock," a tale about putting one's life back together in the wake of an alcohol problem, prompted 80,000 people to seek help from Al-Anon and Ala-teen.
Reserved seating tickets are $22.50, plus a $1 service fee, at the University Service Center in Davies Center. Tickets may be charged to MasterCard or Visa when ordered by phone. Call (715) 836-3727 or, outside the immediate Eau Claire area, call toll-free (800) 949-UWEC. A $3 handling fee will be added to all telephone charge orders.
The concert is sponsored by Frank Productions and the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate.
