EAU CLAIRE
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Monday, Dec. 6. All events are free and open to the public.
MONDAY, DEC. 6:
- Senior Erin Curran, Green Bay, will present a soprano recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The recital will include Handel's "Sweet Bird" from "L'Allegro Il Penseroso, ed Il Moderato," "Wie Melodien zieht es mir" by Brahms and Mozart's "Alleluja" from "Exultate Jubilate."
TUESDAY, DEC. 7:
- Senior Emily Johnson, Chaseburg, will present a soprano recital at 5 p.m. in Phillips Recital Hall. The program will include J.S. Bach's "Quia respexit" from "Magnificat," "Die Forelle" by Franz Schubert and Engelbert Humperdinck's "Wo bin ich?" from "Hansel und Gretel."
- Jazz Ensemble IV and the Jazz Pedagogy Ensemble will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. Conducted by associate professor of music Robert Baca, the concert will include Thelonious Monk's "Bemsha Swing," "Salt Peanuts" by Dizzy Gillespie and Kenny Clarke, Dominic Spera's "North Clearwater Stomp" and "Stronger Than Dirt" by Ron Keezer. The program features a number of student soloists and two student directors for each ensemble.
FRIDAY, DEC. 10:
- The annual lobby concert will be performed from noon to1 p.m. in the Haas Fine Arts Center lobby. The concert includes traditional carols performed by a variety of university ensembles.
