EAU CLAIRE
Fresh off a tour, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Jazz Ensemble I will bring many classics to life with a concert at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 3 in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
Associate professor of music Robert Baca will direct Jazz I in a student solo-studded performance that opens with Thelonious Monk's "Straight No Chaser" and Duke Ellington's "In A Sentimental Mood".
After a brief intermission, Jazz I will return to perform selections including "Four" by Miles Davis, Michael Brecker's "African Skies" and a special performance called "Tubby the Tuba Meets a Jazz Ensemble." The tuba performance will feature music professor Dr. Jerry Young on tuba and theater professor emeritus Dr. Wil Denson as the narrator.
Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727, are $4.75 for adults, $3.75 for seniors, children 17 and under and faculty/staff with university ID, or $1.25 for students with university ID. -30- JV/BW
