EAU CLAIRE
In the spirit of the holiday season, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Women's Chorus will perform a festive concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
Dr. Kathryn Proctor Duax, professor of music, will conduct the chorus for a four-part program including Joseph Haydn's "Gloria" from the "Heiligmesse" and "Three Love Songs" by Johannes Brahms.
"The Women's Chorus is a very nice group of non-(music) majors who love to sing," Proctor Duax said.
After a brief intermission, the Women's Chorus will return to perform the final two sets that include the French carol "Bring a Torch, Jeannette, Isabella" and Benjamin Britten's "A New Year Carol."
"The program also includes two songs with violin and oboe and one piece with three student soloists," she said.
To conclude the concert, the chorus will perform James McKelvy's arrangement of "Deck the Halls" and will invite the audience to sing along.
Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727, are $3.75 for adults, $2.75 for seniors, children 17 and under and faculty/staff with university ID, or free for students with university ID. -30- JV/BW
