Johnson Warner Named Co-Chair
of National Nursing Council |

EAU CLAIRE
Susan Johnson Warner, associate dean of the School of Nursing at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, has been elected co-chair of the National Advisory Council on Nurse Education and Practice.
Donna Shalala, U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, appoints the Council to advise the Department of Health and Human Services on matters related to nursing practice and education. The council also reports directly to the U.S. Congress.
Among the issues addressed by the council are the nursing shortage, the aging of the nursing work force, a shortage of nursing faculty and diversity issues. Strategies to increase enrollments and graduations from baccalaureate nursing schools were also discussed by the council during a recent meeting. -30- JB
