EAU CLAIRE
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Jazz Ensemble II will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center.
Associate professor of music Ronald Keezer will conduct Jazz II for a Duke Ellington-dominated program to include "Come Sunday," "Portrait of Louis Armstrong" from "The New Orleans Suite" and an Ellington/Strayhorn arrangement of Peter Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker Suite."
A variety of student soloists will perform during the concert, which also will feature Thelonious Monk's "Straight No Chaser" and "The Chant of the Weed" by Don Redman.
Tickets, available at the University Service Center, (715) 836-3727, are $3.75 for adults, $2.75 for seniors, children 17 and under and faculty/staff with university ID or free for students with university ID.
The Jazz Ensemble II performed at the Wisconsin Music Educators Association state convention Oct. 29 in Madison. -30- JV/BW
