Winterim Classes Offered
At UW-Eau Claire
MAILED: Oct. 15, 1999|
Art, biology, psychology, nursing and accounting are among the course topics that will be offered this January during the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire's Winterim.
Approximately 45 courses will be available during the three-week Winterim session that runs Jan. 3-21, with most Winterim classes meeting every weekday for three hours.
"I think the number and variety of courses will appeal to current UW-Eau Claire students as well as members of the community who may be interested in taking a class," said Jan Morse, administrative officer for academic affairs. "We're pleased that every year the level of interest on the part of students and faculty increases."
The three-week Winterim course offerings allow current students to make the most of their winter breaks, Morse said. The additional credits earned can help students stay on track or get a step ahead on completing their degrees, she said.
"Also, because it's an intensive three weeks, it allows students to really immerse themselves in their discipline and get an experience they might not normally get when taking a class for the traditional 16 weeks," Morse said.
Those interested in enrolling in Winterim can do so up until the day that classes begin, Morse said. However, classes with low enrollments will be canceled so it's best if students register early, she said.
Currently enrolled students can register Oct. 18-28, and special students including those not currently enrolled at UW-Eau Claire can begin registering Oct. 29.
Information about course offerings is on UW-Eau Claire's Web site, www.uwec.edu, under Admission and Registration and on the Blugold System. For more information, call the Registration Office at (715) 836-2425.
