Lonestar's third BNA Records album, "Lonely Grill," sold 47,000 copies in its first week of release last June and reached platinum status in only 10 weeks. The album's first single, "Amazed," was the first number-one single by a group to spend more than four weeks at the top of the charts in 40 years. Lonestar's newest single, "Smile," made its debut in late September. In addition to its success on the charts, the band received its first two Country Music Awards nominations for Vocal Group of the Year and Single of the Year.
In 1996, Lonestar reached the country charts as a hot, young country band with the number-one hit "No News." That year also earned them the Top New Vocal Group award at the Academy of Country Music ceremonies, and Billboard magazine honored the band with its Top New Country Duo/Group award. The next year, Lonestar had three more top-10 hits "Heartbroke Every Day," "You Walked In" and "Come Cryin' to Me." Their first hit ballad, "Say When," reached the charts in 1998, and "Everything Changed" reached number one.
