EAU CLAIRE
The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire music and theatre arts department will present the following musical performances the week beginning Monday, Oct. 18. All events are free and open to the public.
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 20:
- Senior Nathan Vlcek, Chetek, will perform a tuba recital at 7:30 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall of the Haas Fine Arts Center. The program includes R. Vaughan Williams' Concerto for Bass Tuba, "New England Reveries" by Neal Corwell and "Let There Be Peace On Earth" by Sy Miller and Jill Jackson.
SUNDAY, OCT. 24:

Founded and directed by Paul Kosower, professor of music, the University String Orchestra will perform its fall concert at 4 p.m. in Gantner Concert Hall. Opening with Mozart's "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik," the String Orchestra also will perform Two Pieces for Strings by William Walton and Mendelssohn's Sinfonia No. 8 in D major. The String Orchestra, founded in the fall of 1997, also will perform at 9 a.m. Oct. 29 at the Wisconsin Music Educators Association State Convention, held at the Dane County Expo Center in Madison.
