EAU CLAIRE
Sally Barris will present three free concerts at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Oct. 21-23. A two-time Kerrville Folk Festival finalist and Telluride Festival Band Contest winner, Barris will begin her shows at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday in The Cabin, Davies Center.
"Sally Barris has a voice like sparkling crystal," said Kathy Mattea when the Minnesota native moved to Nashville. "You could have knocked me over with a feather the first time I heard her. Her writing is from a deep yet innocent place, and her point of view is just a bit off center. I am excited for her. She is standing at the beginning of her journey in this town with all of it ahead of her."
Barris has fronted three bluegrass bands in the Midwest, toured throughout Europe and performed solo in such rooms as Eddie's Attic in Atlanta, the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville and the Prism Coffee House in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The show is open to all ages; proof of age is required for alcohol purchase. The Cabin program is sponsored by the University Activities Commission of the UW-Eau Claire Student Senate. -30- JS/BW
