EAU CLAIRE
With chilly weather rapidly approaching the Chippewa Valley, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire College of Arts and Sciences Continuing Education/UW-Extension is offering weekend workshops to warm your mind.
Three day-long Saturday Samplers are open to anyone over age 12 who is interested in learning, meeting new people and having fun. The workshops, "Fall Fantasy," "Wisconsin: Logging, Legends and Lore" and "MINDful BODY and SOUL," will be held Oct. 16, Oct. 23 and Nov. 13, respectively.
"Fall Fantasy," which runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., will take place at Beaver Creek Reserve and include a geological stroll through the reserve and a basic lesson on outdoor photography. A camera and film are required for each participant.
Learn about the Chippewa Valley's lumbering history in "Wisconsin: Logging, Legends and Lore." The workshop runs from 10 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. and will be held at the Chippewa Valley Museum. It includes a talk on logging legends and tours of the Paul Bunyan Camp, the museum and Carson Park.
"MINDful BODY and SOUL," which runs from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., will teach participants how to nurture what's inside with a day including Tai Chi, a lesson in nutrition, aromatherapy and a Cardio Kick class. Instruction will take place at the UW-Eau Claire Davies Center in the Tamarack Room.
Workshops cost $32 each, and participants will be on their own for lunch. The deadline for registration/cancellation is the Monday prior to each Saturday Sampler. Refunds will be issued before this date; however, a $5 processing fee will be kept. Past each deadline, no refunds will be made, but a substitute may attend if the Continuing Education office is notified.
