EAU CLAIRE
Don and Pat Cheney, Eau Claire, have made an additional gift of $10,000 to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Foundation endowment fund that bears their name.
Earnings from the Don and Pat Cheney Fund for Faculty Development have assisted several university faculty members in their research. For example, Dr. Paula Kleintjes, associate professor of biology, received dollars to study the impact of deer damage to lands in the conservation research program. Dr. Garry Running, assistant professor of geography, used dollars from the Cheneys to gather data and map an area that would lead to restoration of a wetland area for wildlife habitat, and to assess the compatibility of another wetland restoration area in southwestern Wisconsin. And Dr. David Lonzarich, assistant professor of biology, has used the Cheneys' gift to do research on the habitat quality and trout populations in Lower Duncan Creek near Chippewa Falls.
